USING A CAPO
to transpose from one musical key to another.
to transpose from one musical key to another.
Each tunes page in this "GUITAR" section of the tunes2play4fun site contains the GUITAR-STRUMMING (and sometimes the GUITAR-PICKING) notation for tunes in the major keys (and related modes) for C and/or G. Some embedded youTube video tunes are in these keys and you can play along on your guitar in the standard or open position.
However, the majority of youTube video performances, and many of your singing voices, are in other major keys, and you will need to transpose from C (or G) to the key that matches the youTube music or is comfortable for accompanied singing |
You can use a capo, as shown above and at left, to transpose to these keys and modes, and thus play along with these other performances while using the finger positions for tunes in the key of C or the key of G.
The photo at left shows a capo covering the 2nd fret; playing in key of C will sound in key of D, and playing in key of G will sound in key of A. |
The table below gives the capo location for accompanying various youTube performance keys.
